A former pupil of Milverton School, the author is now on the School Board and undertook this research to commemorate its centenary, which occurs in 2003. Good background information on the evolution of the idea of the National School from the l8th. Century to the present day. Very valuable analysis of the Roll Books and School Registers of the school give an excellent picture of the changing social and cultural climate of the times.
