Paper 309

Lecture – 2015

Author – Hand, George & Power, Carmel

Published in: Time & Tide 10

Report by: Oona Roycroft

Floraville was a private residence, a parish hall and is now a park. The paper lists some early residents and then follows its development as a parish hall from the 1950’s through to the 70’s. The people involved and the many groups that used the hall, like the Marian Society theatre group and the Graduates showband, are recounted. The paper also describes the work of the committees whose commitment eventually led to the development of the Community Centre on the Dublin Road. It also recognises the work of the current committee who oversaw the development of Floraville into a community park. (11 pages)
