In 1958 the Tidy Towns competition was set up by Bord Fáilte and in 1959 Skerries Development and Visitors Association submitted an entry for Skerries. In 1983 a separate Tidy Towns Committee was set up as a sub-committee of Skerries Development and Community Association. The paper chronicles the work done by the committee and its success in improving many aspects of the town’s built and natural environment. (10 pages).
