Members & Friends
(Skerries Historical Society Meeting – 10th December 2013)
Our annual convivial evening was ably conducted by multi-talented master of ceremonies and superb all-round entertainer, George Hand. Lots of fun was augmented with mince pies and wine. The entertainment was provided by members and friends of the Society.
There was a lovely turn from Betty Balcombe and another example of the depth of talent available to us when author, Peter McNally, read us his Christmas story set in Skerries. We enjoyed the wonderful singing from Bernie McKenna and her sister, Joe Murray and friends. Of course we had yet another great recitation from that virtuoso performer Rosalie Pickering. Brendan Grimes made sure we didn’t forget our history when he read us a December newspaper report from over ninety years ago. All was rounded off with amazing music from afficionado of the guitar Len Guest with Tony Keeling singing some of his ever popular numbers. Tony & Len are becoming most welcome regulars at this successful annual shindig.
