The DUTC (Dublin United Tramway Company) which commenced in 1896 secured the rights to operate bus services and within 2 years had 13 routes. Double decked buses were introduced in 1937. The DUTC merged with rail and provincial bus operator GSR  (Great Southern Rail) to form CIE in 1945.

The author gives a comprehensive history of the bus service with particular emphasis on the local service in Skerries. This is a delightful paper and anyone interested in the history of buses will find it very enlightening and well researched.
