This paper gives an overview of the G.N.R. from commencement to the end, with some emphasis on the Skerries connection. A previous company – The Dublin and Drogheda Railway had the first line north. The first train, between Amiens Street and Drogheda ran on the 18th March 1844. Anybody interested in trains will find this paper very interesting. The G.N.R. ran from 1876 – 1958 – 82 years, and gave good service throughout the years. The author has given us a comprehensive and interesting paper.
