Synopsis: Richard Chambre Hayes Taylor served in the Crimea and was then sent to India with his regiment in summer 1857 after the Indian Mutiny broke out in May of that year. He remained there until Spring 1859. His letters home form the basis of this talk with commentary from Aidan Herron on the social, political and military background to the comments made in the letters.
