Holmpatrick church was designed by James Edward Rogers (1838-96) and consecrated in 1868. The author gives an account of the architect’s life and background, his architectural education, and the contemporary ideas on architectural theory which informed his work. Also discussed is the political background which was favourable to the building of churches for the established religion in Ireland. (11 pages + 15 pages of illustrations)
