Synopsis : How to make use of the internet when researching local history papers including dos and don’ts.
The ‘Wreck of the Sarah of Runcorn’ is used to show how information found on the Internet can differ from one website to another, and indeed from one area of a website to another. Well known and respected websites can and do contain discrepancies which the discerning researcher needs to be aware of. The Internet is a valuable tool in Historical research but information found needs to be carefully checked for accuracy.
