Letters of Richard Taylor from the Crimea

Paper 189

Lecture – 1995

Author – Balcombe, Elizabeth

These most interesting letters were written by Richard Chambre Hayes Taylor of Ardgillan. He was later General Sir Richard Taylor, who himself took part in the Crimea war with the Highland Regiment. The letters were factual with little of home gossip, although they were written to his mother, sister and brother. They read as though intended as the basis of a book and give very valuable insights on the living conditions of an officer during a major military campaign.
