Threatened French invasion around 1778-1780. American privateers disrupted shipping around the British Isles. Luke Ryan and other Rush men joined forces with the Americans and the French in holding the British merchant ships up to ransom. Rush vessels were the Black Prince, Black Princess and the Greyhound.
