Synopsis: The construction and use of the Irish or Skerries Wherry from the early eighteenth century to the second half of the nineteenth century, tracing the development of the Wherry from a fishing vessel using the Fingallian long lining technique, through a period of privateering, to acting as mail vessels and carriers of fish caught by other vessels.
