Author – Balcombe, Elizabeth

Published 1992

Account of a dispute between the Rev. William Tighe, Rector of Holmpatrick and his Vestry. The paper does not confine itself to just this account, however, but gives some background on the life and work of the then Archbishop of Dublin, who had to arbitrate in this dispute. He was Richard Chevenix Trench, poet, revolutionary, and prime mover of the compilation of The New Oxford English Dictionary, who is buried in Westminster Abbey.
